Support
Therapy Services
Our therapy services are designed to support children with autism, suspected autism, Global Developmental Delay (GDD), and a wide range of developmental needs. Services include speech pathology, occupational therapy, behaviour therapy and support, and comprehensive Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA).
Delivered by allied health practitioners with paediatric and autism-specific expertise, our therapies focus on building your child’s skills in a way that values their individual strengths and unique needs. Depending on availability, sessions can take place at home, school, or in a centre environment.

Therapy sessions we offer
Speech Pathology
Our Speech Pathologists support children to develop communication skills in ways that are meaningful to them. This may include working on speech sounds, understanding and using language, social interaction, or alternative communication methods. The goal is to help children be understood, express themselves, and build confidence in everyday situations.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapists help children gain important life skills such as play, self-care, motor development, social skills, and sensory regulation. At AEIOU, our occupational therapists support children to become more independent and engaged, both at home and in their learning environments.
Behaviour Therapy & Positive Behaviour Support
Our Behaviour Therapists use positive, evidence-based strategies to help children manage challenges and thrive. Therapy may focus on building social skills, emotional regulation, and problem-solving, while also coaching families in practical tools that encourage progress and connection in daily life.
Where appropriate, a Behaviour Support Practitioner can work with your family to develop a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Plan. This plan outlines strategies to reduce behaviours of concern, build your child’s skills, and create supportive environments across home, school, and community. PBS Plans can be funded through the Improved Relationships budget in your child’s NDIS plan.
Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA)
An FCA is an assessment carried out by an allied health professional to understand how a child’s disability or developmental needs affect their daily life. It provides evidence for NDIS and other supports by highlighting both strengths and areas where additional help may be needed.
The assessment looks at daily activities such as self-care, household tasks, mobility, social participation, and communication. It provides practical recommendations to help build skills and support greater independence.
Have questions about our service?
-
How can private therapy sessions be funded?
Private therapy sessions can be funded either through NDIS plans or paid for privately. Positive Behaviour Support Plan Development may also be claimed under the Improved Relationships budget in your child’s NDIS plan.
-
Do you bulk bill?
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer bulk billing. Families usually access our services through NDIS funding or private payment.
-
Are your services eligible under a Medicare Care Plan (otherwise known as Chronic Disease Management Plan/Enhanced Care Plan)?
No, unfortunately we are not able to accept Medicare Care Plans.
-
Where are the sessions delivered?
Sessions can be delivered at your local AEIOU centre, your child’s school, or at home, depending on the therapist’s availability. Please note that travel outside of an AEIOU centre may incur additional charges.
-
How much do private therapy sessions cost?
Our private therapy sessions start from $209.50 per session. The exact cost depends on the session length, therapy type, and whether travel is required. For detailed information, please see our Schedule of Fees document.
-
Can my child have multiple sessions across different disciplines?
Yes. We offer speech pathology, occupational therapy, and behaviour therapy, as well as positive behaviour support plan development. Your child can access multiple sessions across these disciplines, and we can tailor a schedule to best support their needs.
-
Do you only work with autistic children?
We support children with a wide range of developmental needs. This includes, but is not limited to, autism and global developmental delay. Your child does not need an official diagnosis to access our service — we welcome all families seeking support for their child’s communication, learning, or development.
-
Do you have an age requirement? / How old does my child need to be?
We don’t have a strict age limit for our therapy services. Most of the children we support are between the ages of 2 and 12, but we’re happy to discuss supports for older children if needed.
